UPDATED
09/01/07
The signal box at Whitrope Siding was
actually the first project to commence, but as we had already decided on a
“Milepost & Marker” replacement project, the ‘Box project was demoted to 002.
Work started in earnest way back in
October 2001 (prior to W.R.H.A. formation!), but by
the middle of November we were still carting off barrow loads of spoil from the
site of the ‘Box. Having lost count of the barrow loads, we can only estimate
that we moved around ten tonnes of spoil – even though it felt like more!!
Without plans, and using
only photographs, we have been able to completely re-draw all four external
walls of the signal box from scratch using computer graphics. These drawings have now gone to the architects who will be better able to complete
the plans for the rebuild.
Our thanks must go to
all those who have helped us up to now by providing photographs for us to work
with.
